What we have discovered and are happy to share
It was the pursuit of effective execution that led us to adopt the OKR framework for implementing strategies. It stands for Objectives and Key Results, and is easy to define:
- An objective is a statement of what you are trying to achieve as a business.
- A Key Result is a quantifiable measure of the impact of your strategy.
The concept is simple. The execution is difficult because ensuring all your team are clear about what’s important to the company is a challenge. Having the team pulling as one is everything; as the late Peter Drucker pointed out:
“Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”
We have learned many lessons over the past two years of using OKRs at Auxin, usually good but sometimes painful. We are learning all the time, always striving to improve our delivery and share what we have discovered.
- Auxin is now driven by OKRs. We use the OKR framework across a wide range of projects for clients based throughout the UK.
- We offer both OKR training courses and OKR consultancy. It all depends on what you need and how comfortable you feel working with OKRs.
A quick word of warning; OKRs don’t make things easy but they do make sure things get done.
